Engine warranty on Reco engines and fitting

In short: Our engine warranty covers the parts we supply new and the work on your invoice. When we fit the engine, it covers our fitting work too. It lasts 12 months for passenger vehicles and 6 months for trucks and commercial vehicles, and is not transferable. Overheating, low oil, driving on after a warning, and tuning void it.

This engine warranty is our promise about what we do if something goes wrong. We back it with our own local workshops in Sydney and Melbourne.

How long does the warranty last?

The warranty lasts 12 months for passenger vehicles and 6 months for trucks and commercial vehicles.

The warranty is not transferable. It covers the person named on the invoice. It does not pass to a new owner if the vehicle is sold.

What does the warranty cover?

The warranty covers:

  • the parts we supply new
  • the work listed on your invoice
  • our fitting work, when we fit the engine at our workshop.

If you have a fault inside the warranty period, we assess it. Then we tell you the next step.

What does the warranty not cover?

The warranty does not cover external parts. It does not cover original parts from your vehicle or your old engine. We cannot say how long those parts will last.

The warranty does not cover damage caused by:

  • overheating, or low coolant
  • low oil
  • driving on after a warning light, a leak or a fault appears
  • another part failing, for example a turbo sending debris into the engine
  • performance modifications or tuning.

How do I keep my warranty valid?

Follow these steps. They help a new engine run in well.

  1. Check your fluids. The vehicle leaves us with the correct fluids. After that, keep the oil and coolant at the right levels.
  2. Use running-in oil. Use Penrite running-in oil for the first 1,000 km. Then change to the recommended oil.
  3. Allow time to run in. Running in can take up to 10,000 km. It depends on how you drive.
  4. Service on time. Service at 1,000 km. Then service every 5,000 km until 20,000 km. After that, service every 10,000 km.
  5. Register your warranty. After fitting, email us photos of your rego, VIN and odometer. Send them to info@recoservices.net.au.

How do I make a warranty claim?

  1. Stop driving. If a warning light comes on, or you see a leak or a fault, stop the vehicle straight away.
  2. Contact us. Call 02 9737 0105 or email info@recoservices.net.au.
  3. Tell us what happened. Say what you noticed and what you think the fault is. Tell us what checks have been done. Send a few photos.
  4. We assess it. We look at the information and tell you the next step.
