How to buy a replacement engine from Reco
This page explains how to buy a replacement engine from Reco, from your first enquiry to the drive home. We talk to you before you pay anything. There is no online checkout. Buyers often take their time and compare options, and that is fine with us.

Fitting or delivery, then running in
Fitting is not included in the price and is quoted separately. Fitting is available at our Sydney and Melbourne workshops.
What are the five steps?
1. Tell us your vehicle, and we check the engine fits
We need the make, model, year and series. We also need the engine code, which is the engine in the vehicle now. Your rego or VIN helps us check. We confirm the fit before we quote. If you are not sure of your engine code, start with find my engine.
2. Tell us where the vehicle is
The vehicle might be in Sydney, in Melbourne, or broken down somewhere else. This tells us whether we can fit the engine for you, or whether we send it by freight.
3. Choose fitting or engine only
You have two choices.
- Fitting at our workshop. We fit the engine at our Sydney or Melbourne workshop. You tow it in, you drive it out. If the vehicle cannot be driven, we can arrange a tow truck to bring it in.
- Engine only. We send the engine to you or your mechanic anywhere in Australia. Freight is quoted for each job. See shipping and delivery.
We suggest fitting with us where you can. It is our product, and we make sure it is done right. Our warranty then covers the fitting work as well.
4. Get your quote and pay
Your quote is valid for 30 days. For a fitting job, a 50% deposit books the job. It also holds the engine for your vehicle and secures your place in the queue. For engine only, you pay in full before we release the engine for shipping. You can pay by bank transfer, or by card over the phone. See payment.
5. Fitting or delivery, then running in
If we fit the engine, we keep you updated while we work. If you chose engine only, it travels on a pallet or in a crate to your address or depot.
After fitting, follow the running-in steps. Use running-in oil for the first 1,000 km, then change to the recommended oil. Then register your warranty. Email us photos of your rego, VIN and odometer. See the full steps on our warranty page.
Who fits the engine?
There are two paths. Tell us which one fits you when you enquire.
Swipe across the table to see all columns.
| Topic | You own the vehicle | You are a mechanic or workshop |
|---|---|---|
| Who fits it | We fit it at our Sydney or Melbourne workshop | You fit it, or you send the vehicle to us |
| Price | Our quote | A trade discount applies |
| Freight | Not needed if we fit it | Quoted for each job |
If you own the vehicle, we recommend our fitting. Tow in, drive out, with a warranty on the work.
If you are a mechanic, we want to support your business. You can fit the engine yourself. You can also send the vehicle to us. We fit it, you add your margin, and you keep the customer. See trade supply.
What happens after I send an enquiry?
We read your vehicle details and check which engine fits. We may call you to confirm the engine code, or ask for your rego or VIN. Then we send a quote. It shows the engine, and either fitting or freight.
Many people like to call us first and check that we are a real business. You are welcome to. Call 02 9737 0105. Our Sydney workshop is in Auburn. Our Melbourne workshop is at 32A Adrian Rd, Campbellfield VIC 3061.
How long does a fitting job take?
