What else goes into the total cost?

The engine is the biggest line, but not the only one:

  1. Timing parts. If you buy a basic (not timed) long bare, the timing kit and the time to fit it.
  2. Worn outside parts. Anything found worn when it comes off, such as a turbo, injectors or a water pump. We quote it before we fit it.
  3. Freight or a tow. Engine freight is quoted per job; a country tail-lift delivery can be $300 to $400 more than a metro delivery with a forklift. Or we arrange a tow to our workshop.

How do you pay?

  • Engine only: paid in full before the engine is released for shipping.
  • Bank transfer or card over the phone. We don't offer Afterpay.

Mechanics and workshops get a trade discount of about 5%.

Why can't we give an exact price on the page?

Because the engine price is fixed, but the rest depends on your vehicle. Two 1KD-FTV jobs can come out differently if one needs a turbo and the other doesn't, or if one is in Parramatta and the other is in Dubbo. We give you the full number on a quote once we know the vehicle, where it is and who is fitting it.

Is a replacement engine worth it for your vehicle?

That depends on the vehicle as much as the engine. Our guide on whether it is worth replacing the engine in an older vehicle walks through it.
