How long does an engine replacement take, from enquiry to driving again?

In short: An engine replacement with our workshop doing the fitting usually takes one to three weeks from booking, depending on the queue. Before that, we check fitment, quote and take a 50% deposit, which holds the engine for your vehicle and your place in the queue. Engine-only orders go once paid in full, plus freight time.

What are the steps, from first call to driving away?

3. Quote We quote the engine, fitting if wanted, and freight or tow Us. Quotes are valid for 30 days

How long does the fitting take once it is booked?

Hank's answer: "Sometimes we can do the job in a week. Sometimes we can do the job in three weeks." It depends on how many jobs are ahead of yours and on what turns up when the old engine comes out.

That is why the deposit matters. When you pay the 50% deposit, the engine is allocated to your vehicle and your spot in the queue is held. Without it, the engine can be sold to someone else in the meantime.

How long does an engine-only order take?

The engine is paid in full and then released for shipping. After that it is freight time, which depends on where you are. Metro deliveries are usually quicker than country ones.

What can slow a job down?

  • Waiting on vehicle details. A missing series or engine code means we cannot confirm the fit. Include the VIN and a build-plate photo in your first message.
  • Worn outside parts. If the turbo, injectors or another original part is worn when it comes off, it needs a part ordered and your OK on the extra cost.
  • Getting the vehicle to us. A tow from out of town adds time.

What if you want your own engine rebuilt instead?

That takes longer, because we first need to strip it down and inspect it. If it is serviceable, you get a fixed quote for the rebuild.

How do you keep the wait short?

Send everything in the first enquiry: make, model, year, series, rego, VIN, the engine in it now, whether you need fitting, and where the vehicle is. Then we can check, quote and book in one go.

Ask for a time and a quote

Use the enquiry form, or call 02 9737 0105. We give you the next booking we can offer with your quote.
